    WRESTLING: NLD Elite’s 20 Wrestling Techniques

    Neutral
    1.     Double Leg—at least 2 different finishes. Power double/duck to a double/double leg pickup/outside frame snap to double.
    2.     Single Leg-pick up leg.  Need 3 different finishes.  Tree top, Sweep backwards, Trip forward. Low single
    3.     Whizzer –2 finishes----loose arm-head and arm-far arm trap.
    4.     Snap down--Front head lock to butt drag.
    5.     Duck Under—head tie up/elbow tie inside frame tie—must know 1 of 3.
    6.     2 on 1/arm drags—need both.
    7.     High C—preferably to double.
    8.     Fireman’s Carry-- short fireman’s
    9.     Ankle Pick
    Top Position
    10.   Far Knee, Far Ankle-far arm far ankle-butcher
    11.   Cross body ride- to cross face pin/to shoulder tilt
    12.    Half nelson/reverse half nelson—Power half--3/4 nelson/
    13.   Spiral ride/ also w/ half
    14.   Cradle at least 2 variations. Inside cradle/cross face cradle.
    15.   Arm chop/tight waist jam to catch opposite arm for back exposure.

    JUDO: Northland (NLD) Spring Trifecta 2012

    We have put together THREE judo events to help our youth apply what they are learning at judo practice and to feel comfortable competing in judo tournaments.  This is also a GREAT way for students to get tournament points for their next belt ranking.


    Save the dates now...We are hoping for 100% participation!!! And, please feel free to invite family and friends to see your little "judokas" compete at these events!

    ★ Saturday, April 21, 2012 ★

    Northland Judo Youth T-shirt Scrimmage

    • Competition: Round Robin Brackets

    This event will be held to help our judo players (and parents) get used to the tournament environment. IT will be restricted to our NLD team only and the size should help the kids feel comfortable.


    We will hire refs, arrange for table workers, do weigh-ins during Thursday night practice, and have brackets with the mat set-up on the big court.  Since this tournament is for NLD judokas only we will not hand out medals. Each child will receive a spirit wear t-shirt to wear to future tournaments to "represent" our club!

    This event will help our judo players in competing against judokas from other clubs.  We will invite one other club to bring their youth team to compete against our kids! 

    Our goal is to ease our judokas into competing.  By inviting one club we hope the children will not be overwhelmed.  Since we are still slowly trying to build our judokas comfort level and build excitement about tournaments everyone that competes in the dual will be awarded a participation medal.  ADDITIONAL INFORMATION COMING SOON.

    Our team is now ready for the big event, NLD's first YOUTH TOURNAMENT! At this time we will invite several local judo clubs and host a full youth tournament with 2-mats going at the same time.

    Judokas will go through official weigh-ins and bracketed competition with the top three children from each bracket being awarded a medal for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION COMING SOON.
